I’m Kate Turtiainen / Webber, owner and creator of Bay ActivePT. Bay Active PT represents a way of life that has come over various life decisions that I have made, which I not only love to share with my clients but all the people who surround me.
Training, exercise, fitness, diets for me, isn’t about how I look to others it is about being able to do the things that I want when I want, with no restriction due to my body. Whether it be pulling over and climbing a tree because it looks like a good time or picking up my dirt bike after I crash. These things empower me every day and in turn build my self-esteem. Which every person needs if they wish to survive in today’s society.
I won’t lie in an industry like mine, I haven’t always felt this way... but I learnt early on that I would rather take each day with both hands and hold on tight for the ride.. Rather than miss the ride altogether because I am to pre-occupied weighting myself and my snacks before I leave for the day. My approach is pretty simple when summarised. Eat clean, eat well and exercise in a way that makes you smile every day. Training isn't always going to be easy, but it should be fun majority of the time.
My training didn't start back in 2009 when I was in Sydney becoming a Master Trainer. It started when I was kid playing netball, basketball, dancing, swimming and horse riding. Each of these experiences have trained me in various ways mind, body and spirit and if we are honest one doesn't work without the other. Have you ever seriously injured and yourself and noticed that because your body isn’t working so neither will your head space? I feel compelled to share my knowledge of how people can improve their mind and body through movement. It’s not about the biggest lift you can do it is about how well you can make yourself feel.
The long and the short of it is fitness is simple. It all boils sown to frequency and intensity but the hard bit is getting the mind and body to play together and that is what I am hear to help you with. So let’s teach you how to make exercise fun not a chore and practice listening to your body and what it is trying to tell you. Lets work on your Mind, Body and Spirit!
Say Hi to Amy
Hello! I’m Amy Whiting and I’m a personal trainer and group instructor at Bay Active PT.
I have always been interested in how my body works and why it does the things it does. As I got older, I saw my body changing and I wanted to know why. With my love of movement and desire to learn more about the human body, I enrolled at the Australian Institute of Fitness and completed the Master Trainer course. Since then, I have undertaken more training and completed a variety of courses including Nutritional Coach, Boxing and Kettlebells.
Through this training, my life experiences and my own research, I have gained some very valuable knowledge. It’s this knowledge that I want to share.
I’m a big believer in the 80/20 way. Eat healthy, nutritious food 80% of the time and enjoy treats 20% of the time. Food is medicine: it gives us energy, prevents sickness and fuels our body and minds every day. It’s just making sure we are putting the right fuel in. Educating people on the importance of a balanced lifestyle is at the centre of why I teach personal training. Nutrition and movement go hand in hand for a happy healthy life.
I want my clients to know that they are capable of anything they put their minds too. Mindset is so important when your changing or maintaining a lifestyle. At Bay Active PT, we create an environment where you can feel comfortable by providing one on one training and small group classes. You will always be our main focus during your session and we will always be your number 1 supporter.
Exercise to me, is my happy place. My place to energise, to heal and invigorate my mind, and to be stronger than what I was yesterday. I want my clients to feel the same way - I can educate you by giving you the tools that you can take home and implement into your everyday. Make exercise your happy place!
Hi!! My name is Nadine Van de Water and I’m a Personal Trainer at Bay ActivePT.
My journey in the fitness industry began back when my youngest daughter was just 3 months old and I wanted to get back into fitness. I found there to be a real lack of support for mums with bubs, so I enrolled to complete my certificate 3 and 4 in fitness so that I could learn all the “things” I needed to know to get back moving in a safe way. Since then I haven’t stopped learning, because this industry is forever changing with new and improved methods. My main interest is functional training which trains the body in a way that supports day to day movements but also challenges the body to see change.
My approach to health and fitness is all about balance and this is what I preach to my clients.
⁃ Eat healthy most of the time and move frequently, but also enjoy that treat- no regrets.
⁃ Find a style of exercise that excites you and you show up for yourself every time.
What I love about Bay ActivePT, is you get great support from not only your trainer but all of the trainers, it’s a team effort. And when you train with me you’ll get your very own personal cheer leader. That person in your corner who cheers you on to keep pushing yourself to new Personal Bests, no matter what those look like… an extra rep, a heavier weight, a faster time, completing a movement without pain, walking the stairs without getting puffed… the list goes on.
I can’t wait to kick some goals with you!
